I'm just another player, not one of the devs. Hopefully it will also rollout a ton of bugfixes and rebalance the game's economy (because right now, every town is ultra rich and there's no real challenge to trading), but.
BLOOD AND GOLD CARIBBEAN SHIPS LIST FREE
There is a free "DLC" coming sometime in the future.

At most, I would say it looks different because of the aesthetic, but is otherwise graphically the same as M&B Warband. They're about what Warband was capable of, but there's a lot of people having issues with running the game, and poor optimization is apparently the culprit (I've been lucky in that I haven't had any problems with it despite having modest hardware).
BLOOD AND GOLD CARIBBEAN SHIPS LIST UPDATE
The graphics aren't really an update to M&B. I can't blame them, and B&G could use further updates to reach its true potential, but I can legitimately claim to be enjoying my time with the game regardless.

Well, there's at least a dozen different types, but graphically they aren't particularly distinct, and there's a vocal subset of the community that wants to see more variety. I personally think they're a fabulous addition to the M&B formula.Īs for how many ships there are in the game. They have level and skill requirements, and a few of them can really change the way you play the game. Speaking of traits, they're a lot like perks from Fallout, and they're new. Port battles can get expensive if you're not careful. The AI isn't exactly brilliant, but they can do things like set fire to your ships (which is quite costly, as bitter experience has taught me - the Firefighter trait is absolutely necessary). You, the player have a maximum fleet cap of six, of which you'll likely only want to use five so you have an extra slot for capturing and selling at least one ship. Land battles can be quite large, but sea battles rarely involve more than ten ships. But, your troops do level up and have their own progression trees like M&B. Someone else might be able to give you more detailed examples on that (I try to avoid land battles where possible). Land battles and marine boarding actions work more or less like M&B, but there are differences.

It only comes up once per game as far as I know, and if you aren't careful, you can end up losing your chance by making the wrong choice in the quest. You can begin your own faction with a certain quest involving a governor's daughter. You can fight everyone if you like, or you can do quests and try to join a faction by raising your rep with one of the five factions (English, French, Spanish, Dutch, and the Brotherhood). When you begin the game, you have no faction. I haven't noticed frigates being any faster than lineships, but maybe I'm not paying close enough attention (there are upgrades you can apply to your ships, so you can make them faster or slower depending on what you've done to them).
